Venues that write about Chicago's art scene

The most dependable art coverage in local news sources are New City and TimeOut Chicago. Oh, and of course the School of the Art Institute's F News Magazine.

Smaller scale or more independent blogs include On The Make, Fresh Paint, Sharkforum: Opinion with Teeth, Paul Klein's Art Letter, Art or Idiocy, Art In Chicago Blog and Le Chicago Art Blog.

The only Chicago-based print publication about contemporary art is Proximity Magazine. And, although quite the opposite of print, we have the very important staple to Chicago's art dialogue Bad At Sports, mostly a podcast but also a blog. More obscure is the pdf journal BDBBDB.

National online publications that review contemporary Chicago exhibitions are Artforum.com's Critic's Picks: Chicago and ArtSlant.com's Picks and Reviews.
